Transition - Great Fire of London Day
Children in Transition enjoyed taking part in a Great Fire of London Day hosted by History Off the Page.
The morning saw us exploring lots of different crafts in order to choose which profession we would like to be apprenticed to. The children decorated leather, made bread, made and wrote with ink, wove woollen fabric, dipped candles and mixed herbs with the apothecary.
We learned how the Great Fire started and spread through London and, in the afternoon, we investigated the ashes to work out whose house they came from.
"I loved being a scribbler [scrivener, sic] doing the writing." Charlie Mc
"I liked it when we did the weaving." Lola
"I liked being the rat catcher!" Thomas
Many thanks to the wonderful Fiona from History Off the Page and to all the parents who helped out and made the day such a success for the children.
