More Able Pupils
More Able Pupils are those who achieve or have the potential to achieve at a level significantly in advance of their peer group. This may be in all areas of the curriculum or just one subject. Our staff are very experienced at identifying those children with higher learning potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Each year around half our Form 6 (Year 8) children take Scholarship examinations to some of the best senior schools in the country and we are very proud of our scholarship record, including recent academic scholarships to schools such as Abingdon, Stowe and Headington.
Those children with higher learning potential are extended through challenging activities and high expectations in their lessons, whatever their year group.
Forms 3-6 (Years 5-8) are invited to join Q Club, a weekly enrichment club that focuses on stretching pupils intellectually and equipping them with academic, teamwork and interpersonal
skills they may need for their future endeavours. Our regular external speakers further push the children to think on topics and themes outside of their usual school experience, from
aesthetics to philanthropy, entrepreneurship to environment, and medicine to military!
Our programme of weekly Masterclass sessions for those children in Forms 5-6 (Years 7-8) who show high potential and motivation in the performing arts, creative arts, sport and all
things digital, help stretch and challenge them in these co-curricular areas, and in many cases, achieve scholarships. These sessions are run by specialist staff and have a long track record of being both enjoyable and successful in providing an opportunity for children to develop their advanced skills.
Parents can request our online extra support, information and challenges in a booklet we have created for their children to complete at home.
