The Hope Playing Field
This term saw the laying of a special stone by the entrance to the astroturf to mark the generous donation of the Hope Family to the School’s 2007 Astroturf Appeal.
We are hugely grateful to the Hopes for their generosity which allowed us to realise our ambition to develop this excellent sporting facility. Since its completion, our children have used the astroturf on a daily basis for a wide range of sporting activities and we have shared the facility with local clubs and organisations at the weekends and during the school holidays. In recent years, we have also been delighted to host regional qualifying hockey tournaments for the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) – an honour usually only bestowed on leading independent senior schools.
Simon and Margaret Hope have enjoyed a long association with the School. Their four daughters, Millie, Laura, Eleanor and Georgina all attended Ashfold and Simon chaired the 2006 Ashfold May Ball. Margaret continues to play an important role in the Schools’ development as governor with responsibility for boarding.
