Director of Music
Do you dream of taking pupils on a musical journey to meet Peter and the Wolf, join Rocket Man on the Starlight Express through the Planets Suite to the dark side of the moon, go on a flight with a bumble bee to Hotel California or, just clap along to the rhythm of the beat? If so, then Ashfold School may be the place for you.
We are looking to appoint an energetic Director of Music for September 2020 to join the dynamic staff at Ashfold School. The successful candidate will be genuinely passionate about music and be able to enthuse the children about, and promote the enjoyment of, music through their inspirational teaching. Alongside developing the musical abilities and appreciation of our students, the successful candidate will be able to showcase their creative talents in arranging and delivering high quality musical productions.
The successful candidate will possess a Degree or equivalent in Music, be a Grade 8 pianist and will have experience of delivering musical productions. They will naturally exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, have effective interpersonal and organisational abilities, and possess an aptitude for fostering positive relationships with the children, staff and the wider school community.
Ashfold is an established co-educational Preparatory School for around 280 children aged 3 - 13, set in a beautiful Jacobean mansion with its own thirty-acre estate in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside just thirty minutes from Oxford.
The school has expanded significantly over the last fifteen years and invested heavily in its infrastructure and support systems. We aim to give every child the firmest possible grounding in the core academic subjects, within a small caring family community where children know both each other and all of the staff.
Application closing date: 9am on Friday 20 March 2020
Interviews: To be arranged for Monday 23 March 2020
Ashfold is committed to the protections and safety of its children and the successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Charity Number 272663.
