Scholars' Club

Our Scholars’ Club enjoyed learning more about the human respiratory system with Dr David Taylor.

Photo 1Dr Taylor kindly gave up an evening to tell the children a little about the history of the NHS; how this huge organisation works and how much it all costs. Questions rained down on him about health tourism, post-Brexit EHIC arrangements and air ambulances!

He showed the children how important our lungs are and how they can be damaged in the modern world. He focussed on the harm done by cigarettes and showed us scans of some badly damaged lungs. He explained how doctors like him treat patients. There were dozens and dozens of questions about these important organs.

Many thanks to Dr Taylor for organising and delivering such a stimulating session.
