Form VI Trip to Brecon Beacons
Day 1
We left school at around 10am, buzzing with excitement. We arrived after a long journey. We did 3 challenges, unpacked our tents and ate a delicious meal before practising orienteering and preparing for the long walks ahead.
Day 2
We woke up at 6.15am and ate a hearty breakfast before setting off for some mountain biking. Once we got on the bikes, we were raring to go! We were all dreading the uphill bit but we managed it. Once we got the hang of things, we were zooming around the hills of the Brecon Beacons. Afterwards, we had lunch and got ready for canoeing. We all enjoyed the canoeing despite getting very wet! Following a massive capsize (Harry, Charlie and Sam) and one canoe nearly sinking (Henry, Barney and Josh), we were all ready to go home for a scrumptious BBQ of burgers, sausages and chicken skewers.
Day 3
This was the day of the BIG 15k walk. The sun was blazing. We all set off at different times and took different routes. We reached the Mountain Centre in no time and re-energised before setting off for the harder part of the walk. By 5pm we reached our campsite. We put up our tents, had our rations for tea and played touch rugby.
Day 4
We enjoyed a good breakfast of porridge and sausage & beans before setting off on a beautiful walk. Afterwards, we were all excited to go to Brecon to buy some sweets before going swimming at the leisure centre. When we got back, we were all exhausted and slept very well.
Day 5
We packed up and began to get a bit nervous about our CE results! We departed for the long journey back to Ashfold where we found that we had all passed Common Entrance!
We had an amazing time in the Brecon Beacons but we were all ready to come home and get some well-earned rest!
