She Did It!
A huge congratulations to Evie, Mr Rickner's PA, who completed the London Marathon at the weekend in an impressive 4 hours and 22 minutes.
Evie shared her experience with pupils during this week’s Sports Assembly, with a powerful and inclusive message about resilience and determination, and how success isn’t just for those who see themselves as naturally strong or sporty, but for anyone with the desire to try and the determination to keep going.
Her message resonated strongly with pupils, reinforcing the idea that challenges like this are for everyone, and that with belief and persistence, they really can achieve whatever they set their minds to.
An inspiring achievement and a wonderful example to our whole community.
In Evie’s own words:
“I was lucky enough to secure a ballot place in the London Marathon and last Sunday - the 26th April 2026 I ran 26.2 miles in the sunshine around that iconic route. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but also the most incredible.
It was hot, there were some really tough moments, but the crowds and the atmosphere were so powerful and loud - they kept me going - as did my determination to get it done!
I have received so much support from our wonderful Ashfold Community and thanks to the amazing generosity of so, so many of you I have raised almost £3,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a truly worthy cause and one which means a lot to the McCleary family. Thank you everybody!"
