Stretch & Challenge

Our staff are very experienced at identifying those children with higher learning potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Each year around half our Form 6 (Year 8) children take Scholarship examinations to some of the best senior schools in the country and we are very proud of our scholarship record.

Those children with higher learning potential are extended through differentiated activities and expectations in their lessons.

We invite all children in Forms 4 – 6 (Years 6 – 8) to attend our regular Academic Enrichment sessions. These are designed to give them an insight into academic subjects beyond the classroom. Examples include learning about reptiles at first-hand and discovering the philosophy behind the Harry Potter books.

Our Scholars' Club is for children in Forms 5 and 6 (Years 7 and 8) and it aims to ignite their intellectual curiosity, enrich their knowledge and develop their problem-solving skills.

Our programme of weekly Masterclass sessions for those children in Forms 4 - 6 (Years 6 - 8) who show high potential and motivation in the performing arts, creative arts, sport and all things digital, helps stretch and challenge them, and in many cases, achieve scholarships. These sessions are run by specialist staff and have a long track record of being both enjoyable and successful in providing an opportunity for children to develop their advanced skills.
